Wort Chilling

for Breweries

Brewery wort chillers play a crucial role in the beer-brewing process. After the wort — the liquid extracted from the mashing process during the brewing of beer — is boiled and hops are added, it needs to be cooled quickly. This rapid cooling is necessary to prevent the growth of bacteria that could spoil the beer and to promote the settling of solids (known as the "cold break"). Wort chillers accomplish this task by using a heat exchanger system. The hot wort is passed through one side of the exchanger and a cool fluid (usually water or glycol) is passed through the other side. As the fluids move past each other, heat is transferred from the wort to the cool fluid, rapidly lowering the temperature of the wort. Compressed brewery wort chillers are highly efficient and essential for maintaining the quality and flavor profile of the finished beer.
